The game- Carrom!

A mix between billiards and Table shuffle board, Carrom is a game that creates as much interest as billiards and other board games. Carrom is a game played on square peace of lacquered plywood. A standard board has dimensions of 29” square, with the four corner’s forming pockets, and the limits of the board having bumper’s to ensure the discs stay inside the perimeter’s.

Played extensively across the Asian and Middle Eastern countries, Carrom is played with Discs instead of balls, and is played with 19 Discs. These Discs have three different color’s- Red, White and Black, with 1, 9, 9 discs each respectively for these color’s. The Red Disc is also called Queen, and is usually placed in the centre with the rest of the discs placed around it with an alternative effect.

Konnect found the Android device a micro-carrom board, imagined that the discs could be virtual and got into deriving the formulae behind each movement and strike. With ‘n’ no. of combinations and mostlty programmatically handled Konnect Mobile has come up with an extremely responsive gaming board, strike it, and feel the striker hit the white and black discs, and hurray when they end up in the pockets.

How COA is different from other industries for Real Estate

COA stands for Chart of Accounts. Let’s take for example a standard software widely used in the industry-Quickbooks (Quickbooks). When we create a company, in QB we have readymade COA according to industry & after words you can create the ledgers as per your requirements.

While, for the Real estate industry things work differently, as it deals in a number of properties & to ensure control on each property it is very difficult to maintain it properly. However, quick-books has an option named Class List in which we can create the cost centers property wise or as per the requirements (we can create sub class list) that means we have property at New York but the street numbers are different e.g. 1153 MG Road, 1150 SP Road etc so we can create accordingly. This way we can create fair income reports by cost centers.

In simple language factoring refers to selling your invoices to third party. In return factor will process the invoices and allow you to draw funds against the money owed to your business. It’s an alternative way of drawing money against your invoices. These companies basically provide a finance, debt collection and ledger maintenance service.

There are two methods of factoring-

a)      Recourse Factoring

b)      Non-Recourse Factoring.

In Recourse Factoring, the factor does not take on the risk of bad debts. It means factor will be able to reclaim their money from you if the customer does not pay.

In Non-Recourse Factoring, the factor takes on the bad debts risk. It accepts specified risks around the debtors failure to pay, but it does not insure against debts that are unpaid because of genuine disputes. Because of this non recourse factoring is more expensive than recourse factoring.

Case Example:-

Konnect Technologies, Factors $500000 of Accounts Receivables. There is 4% of Finance Charge. The Factor retains 6% of the accounts receivables.

Therefore, Appropriate Journal Entries are:

[Debit] Cash = $450,000

[Debit] Loss on Sale of Receivables (4%*500000)=$20,000

[Debit]Due from Factor (6%*$500000) =$30,000

[Credit]Accounts Receivables=$500,000

1. What is bank reconciliation?

Bank reconciliation or Bank recon as is widely termed is an accounting method that compares checks written and payments made against checks cashed and fees charged on a bank statement. It gives bank customers an accurate picture of their current bank accounts and is a vital tool for personal and business money management.

2. Why Bank reconciliation (BRS) is required?

The need to do BRS is to validate the correctness of the statement and to derive any differences existing between the bank pass book and cash book.

It is important to go through the process of bank reconciliation. Non reconciled accounts may lead to various risks. There may be chances that one might not be aware of bounced checks and various charges deducted by bank.  Due to non reconciliation of bank accounts your PL & BS might not depict an accurate picture.

Without bank reconciliation, you also expose yourself to unwanted forgery. People may be ignorant of theft on your account. If you never look through each transaction, you’ll never know about it. If you don’t notify the bank quickly enough, you may be out of luck
